WrestleMania 38 took place inside AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on April 2nd and 3rd, 2022. It was the third time WWE staged WrestleMania across two nights, with more than 130,000 fans in attendance across the weekend. That made it one of the largest live events in company history.

The card featured stars from both Raw and SmackDown, with championship matches, celebrity appearances, and returning legends giving each night a unique feel.

Night One opened with several headline attractions. Bianca Belair challenged Becky Lynch for the Raw Women’s Championship, continuing a rivalry that had stretched back to the previous summer. Seth Rollins was set to face an opponent chosen by Vince McMahon, which turned out to be Cody Rhodes, making his return to WWE after six years away.

The night closed with Kevin Owens hosting the KO Show with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. The exchange escalated into a No Holds Barred match, giving Austin his first official WWE bout in nearly two decades.

Night Two carried the momentum forward when Edge went one-on-one with AJ Styles in their first WrestleMania meeting. The Women’s Tag Team Championship was defended in a four-team contest featuring Sasha Banks and Naomi, Carmella and Queen Zelina, Rhea Ripley and Liv Morgan, and Natalya and Shayna Baszler.

Commentator Pat McAfee stepped into the ring against Austin Theory, bringing his energy from the broadcast table to the match itself. The segment also featured involvement from Vince McMahon, who was in Theory’s corner, adding an extra layer of spectacle to the encounter. The weekend ended with Universal Champion Roman Reigns and WWE Champion Brock Lesnar in a Winner Take All main event, with both world titles on the line.

Across both nights, WrestleMania 38 blended WWE’s past and present. The return of Steve Austin gave fans one last chance to see a cornerstone of the company in action, while the comeback of Cody Rhodes pointed to new possibilities for the future.

At the same time, championship matches across both divisions and the headline clash between Reigns and Lesnar kept the spotlight firmly on today’s roster. It was a show that tied together different eras of WWE while also standing as one of the biggest events in the company’s history.
