WrestleMania XXVIII took place on April 1, 2012, at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The event attracted 78,363 fans and broke multiple records, including generating over $67 million in revenue and achieving 1.3 million pay-per-view buys, which was the highest at the time for any professional wrestling show.

The card featured eight official matches on the main show, plus one pre-show bout. The event was headlined by a highly promoted match between The Rock and John Cena, marketed as “Once in a Lifetime,” and included a Hell in a Cell match involving The Undertaker and Triple H with Shawn Michaels as the special guest referee.

Before the main card, a pre-show match for the WWE Tag Team Championship took place. Champions Primo and Epico defended their titles in a triple threat tag team match against The Usos and Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd. After a fast-paced match filled with high-flying moves, Epico won by pinning Jey Uso with a Backstabber, allowing Primo and Epico to retain their titles.

The main card opened with Sheamus challenging Daniel Bryan for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. As Bryan went to kiss his manager, AJ Lee, before the opening bell, Sheamus caught him off guard with a Brogue Kick and pinned him in just 18 seconds, shocking both fans and commentators and leading to a mix of cheers and boos from the crowd.

The undercard also featured Kane defeating Randy Orton in a singles match, and The Big Show overcoming Cody Rhodes to capture the Intercontinental Championship. The card also included a celebrity tag team match where Kelly Kelly and Maria Menounos defeated Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres.

One of the night’s most anticipated matches was The Undertaker vs. Triple H in a Hell in a Cell match, with Shawn Michaels acting as the special guest referee. It was billed as the “End of an Era”, which refers to the three longtime veterans involved. The match was physical and dramatic, with moments where Michaels appeared conflicted about stopping the fight. The Undertaker eventually won, moving his undefeated WrestleMania record to 20-0.

In the WWE Undisputed Championship match, CM Punk defended his title against Chris Jericho. The match featured technical exchanges and submission attempts, with Punk ultimately making Jericho tap out to the Anaconda Vise to retain the championship.

The main event between The Rock and John Cena served as the culmination of a year-long build. With both wrestlers trading signature moves and reversals, the match concluded with The Rock hitting the Rock Bottom and securing the pinfall victory over Cena.

WrestleMania XXVIII is often remembered as one of the most successful and talked-about shows in WWE history for its major star power, strong match build-ups, and big crowd reactions.
