WWF WrestleMania 2000

The WWF Championship was defended in a Fatal Four-Way Elimination Match with each competitor aligned with a different member of the McMahon family. Triple H had Stephanie, The Rock had Vince, Mick Foley had Linda, and Big Show had Shane.

Foley and Big Show were eliminated first, narrowing the field to the two men everyone expected to close the show. Just as The Rock appeared poised to capture the title, Vince McMahon turned on him in a shocking heel turn and helped Triple H secure the pin.

The finish made Triple H the first heel to retain a championship in a WrestleMania main event, and it left the audience deflated heading into the spring.
