Matthew Jason Bloom is a retired American professional wrestler whose career spans North America and Japan, with a strong reputation as a powerful heavyweight and later as a key behind-the-scenes figure in WWE.
Debuting in the late 1990s, he first made national television in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) as Prince Albert, a heavily pierced, tattooed enforcer character aligned with Droz and later part of the T&A tag team with Test under Trish Stratus.
Repackaged as Albert and then A-Train, he became a reliable upper-midcard big man, even winning the WWF Intercontinental Championship and working programs with top names such as The Undertaker.
After his 2004 WWE release, Bloom reinvented himself in Japan as Giant Bernard, becoming one of the most successful foreign heavyweights of his era.
In All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW), New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), and Pro Wrestling Noah (NOAH), he earned credibility through hard-hitting matches, a New Japan Cup victory, and multiple IWGP Tag Team Championship reigns alongside partners Travis Tomko and Karl Anderson. His size, agility, and physical striking style made him a standout gaijin in Japanese heavyweight wrestling.
Returning to WWE in 2012 as Lord Tensai, he initially received a monster push on Raw before settling into tag-team and midcard roles, including the comedy-leaning Tons of Funk team with Brodus Clay.
Transitioning from the ring in 2014, Bloom became a commentator in NXT under the name Jason Albert and soon moved into coaching. He ultimately rose to NXT head coach and Performance Center head, influencing a generation of wrestlers through training and talent development while also working as a producer.
