The TNA World Championship is the top men’s singles title in TNA Wrestling. It was introduced in 2007 after TNA’s relationship with the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) ended and the promotion created its own world championship. Kurt Angle became the first champion, giving the title an immediate connection to one of TNA’s biggest stars.
The championship was known as the TNA World Heavyweight Championship throughout most of its early history. It then became the Impact Wrestling World Heavyweight Championship when the promotion changed its name in 2017, and was later held under the GFW World Heavyweight, GFW Global, and Impact Global Championship titles. It was renamed the Impact World Championship in 2018 and remained under that name until the promotion restored the TNA identity in January 2024.
Across its history, the title has been held by many of TNA’s most important wrestlers, including Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, AJ Styles, Sting, Bobby Roode, Austin Aries, Bully Ray, Lashley, Moose, Josh Alexander, Joe Hendry, and Nic Nemeth. It has also been defended outside the usual TNA setting during crossover periods, including Kenny Omega’s reign while representing AEW and later appearances connected to WWE’s NXT partnership.
The TNA World Championship remains the main prize in TNA’s men’s division. Its lineage connects the company’s original TNA identity, the Impact Wrestling era, the brief GFW period, and the modern TNA relaunch into one continuous world title history.
