Juggalo Championship Wrestling (JCW) is a Detroit-based American independent promotion founded by Insane Clown Posse members Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope on December 19, 1999. The first show took place that night at St. Andrew’s Hall in Detroit under the original name Juggalo Championshit Wrestling. The company formally adopted Juggalo Championship Wrestling on July 16, 2007.
JCW has remained active since 1999, although its schedule has ranged from national tours and regular tapings to periods when its main events were held alongside Insane Clown Posse concerts and the Gathering of the Juggalos.
Its presentation combines hardcore wrestling, comedy, music, unusual characters, and storylines designed for the Juggalo audience. JCW now operates as a touring national independent promotion while retaining Detroit as its home market.
Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope founded JCW after their appearances in ECW, WWF, and WCW, with Brian Gorie and Dave Prazak helping organize and book the first show. The debut roster included The Iron Sheik, King Kong Bundy, Abdullah the Butcher, Mad Man Pondo, 2 Tuff Tony, Corporal Robinson, and Truth Martini.
Evil Dead became the first JCW Heavyweight Champion, while Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope became the first JCW Tag Team Champions. The promotion first gained national distribution through its JCW home-video series, and JCW Vol. 1 reached second place on Billboard’s sports and recreation video sales chart.
Mad Man Pondo, 2 Tuff Tony, Corporal Robinson, Vampiro, Kongo Kong, and Willie Mack became closely associated with the promotion, while Terry Funk, Sabu, Raven, Scott Hall, The Great Muta, and other established wrestlers appeared at major events. Bloodymania has served as JCW’s annual flagship event at the Gathering of the Juggalos since 2007.
Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope have operated JCW through Psychopathic Records throughout its history. SlamTV aired online in 2007 and 2008, and JCW added biweekly Michigan events and a wrestling school overseen by Kevin Canady in 2010.
The promotion introduced live internet pay-per-view in 2011 before moving to a less frequent schedule for much of the following decade. JCW increased its activity in 2024 with the launch of JCW Lunacy, which became a weekly YouTube program supported by touring tapings and TrillerTV specials.
Vince Russo joined JCW as an investor on October 26, 2025, and also became involved in the program’s writing and creative direction. JCW programming later presented Russo as its majority or controlling owner, while Violent J continued to describe JCW as his company and remained involved in its direction.
JCW began working regularly with Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) in 2025, including joint events at the Gathering and an appearance at GCW’s The Collective in 2026. Fans can currently watch Lunacy through Psychopathic Records’ YouTube channel and selected live events through TrillerTV+.
