Claudio Castagnoli is a Swiss powerhouse who mixes strength with clean, technical wrestling. He’s known for sharp European uppercuts and for being a dependable base who can make opponents look great. He first built his name across the European independent scene, then became a major ROH standout as half of the “Kings of Wrestling” tag team with Chris Hero, where they delivered long, highly regarded tag title reigns.
In WWE as Cesaro, he won the Tag Team Championship multiple times, teaming with partners like Tyson Kidd, Sheamus, and Shinsuke Nakamura, and he also held the United States Championship in 2012. His run with Sheamus as The Bar, along with the growing “Cesaro Section” fan support, turned him into a cult favorite because of how good he was in the ring, even though WWE’s focus on him often started and stopped.
In 2022, he moved to AEW and quickly made an impact by winning the ROH World Championship twice. That run came after Tony Khan purchased Ring of Honor in March 2022, which made ROH a sister promotion under the AEW umbrella.
Castagnoli also became a core member of the Blackpool Combat Club alongside Jon Moxley, Bryan Danielson, Wheeler Yuta, and manager William Regal, and he stayed active in AEW’s biggest tournaments and high-level programs.
In late 2025, he expanded to Mexico and won the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship at Arena México, adding another major title to his resume and reinforcing his status as a global main-event talent.
