The AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship was announced and unveiled on 09/24/2025 during AEW Dynamite. AEW introduced the title as its first women’s tag team championship after several teams and alliances had formed across Dynamite, Collision, Rampage, and pay-per-view events. Instead of naming champions right away, AEW held a tournament to crown the first titleholders.
The inaugural tournament began in late October 2025 with eight teams in a single elimination bracket. It included established teams and newer pairings from across the women’s division. The final took place at AEW Dynamite: Winter is Coming on 12/10/2025. The Babes of Wrath (Harley Cameron and Willow Nightingale) defeated Timeless Love Bombs (“Timeless” Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa) to become the first AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions.
The Babes of Wrath made their first defense at AEW Worlds End on 12/27/2025, where they retained against Moné and Athena. They followed with defenses against Sisters of Sin (Julia Hart and Skye Blue) on the 01/31/2026 episode of Collision and against MegaBad (Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford) at Grand Slam Australia on 02/14/2026.
The first title change came at AEW Revolution on 03/15/2026, when Divine Dominion (Megan Bayne and Lena Kross) defeated The Babes of Wrath. Nightingale wrestled twice that night. She defended the TBS Championship against Kross earlier in the show, then entered the tag title match after a post-match attack from Bayne and Kross. The loss ended the first reign at 95 days and made Bayne and Kross the second champions in the title’s history.
Divine Dominion made their first defense on the 03/28/2026 episode of Collision, where they retained against The Babes of Wrath in a rematch. Cameron and Nightingale stopped teaming after the loss.
The champions then defended against Hyan and Maya World during the Zero Hour pre-show at AEW Dynasty on 04/12/2026, against Hikaru Shida and Kris Statlander on the 04/29/2026 episode of Dynamite, and against TayJay (Anna Jay and Tay Melo) on the 06/06/2026 episode of Collision.
The AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship remains active in AEW and continues to serve as the main tag team title for the women’s division.
