Mickie James is an American professional wrestler who broke in during 1999 and built early experience on the independent scene under the name Alexis Laree. She first gained attention in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) during the early 2000s, then made her WWE main roster debut in 2005.
In WWE, she became most associated with the long storyline opposite Trish Stratus that began with Mickie as an obsessed superfan and escalated into a major women’s title program. That run helped establish her as a top name in the division, and she went on to become a five-time WWE Women’s Champion and a one-time WWE Divas Champion.
After leaving WWE in 2010, James returned to TNA and added multiple Knockouts World Championship reigns, later returning again in 2021 and building her “Last Rodeo” run, which revolved around a career-on-the-line stipulation until she could win the Knockouts title one more time. She also made another WWE appearance, wrestling in the 2022 Royal Rumble, while recognized as the Impact Knockouts Champion.
In recent years, she has worked selective matches on the independent circuit, with her latest verified match taking place in July 2025.
