Kiana James is an American professional wrestler signed to WWE, where she competes on the SmackDown brand and has also appeared as the on-screen manager for Giulia. She’s best known for her sharp “business first” persona and for becoming a former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Fallon Henley. From her first NXT appearances through her move to the main roster, she’s been presented as a confident heel who treats every match and partnership like a deal she can control.
James entered wrestling through Florida’s Flatbacks Wrestling School, where she trained under Shawn Spears and Tyler Breeze before continuing her development in WWE’s Performance Center under coaches like Sara Amato. Her first widely seen match came on September 11, 2021, when she wrestled under the name Xtina Kay on an AEW Dark taping against The Bunny. Not long after, she shifted fully into WWE’s system and began building her name on NXT television.
Her WWE debut followed on February 1, 2022, on NXT, when she wrestled as Kayla Inlay against Sarray. She was then repackaged as Kiana James and introduced with a clear character direction: a ruthless businesswoman who spoke in corporate terms and carried herself as if she owned the brand.
On May 17, 2022, she faced Roxanne Perez in the first round of the NXT Women’s Breakout Tournament, which helped establish her as part of the next wave of NXT talent. By June 24, 2022, she was a regular presence on the brand, including a match on NXT Level Up against Brooklyn Barlow. On August 9, 2022, she faced Nikkita Lyons on NXT as her early rivalries started to take shape on weekly TV.
As 2022 continued, James’ most defining NXT story became tied to Fallon Henley. Their on-screen conflict grew into a “Battle for the Bar”- style feud, keeping her in a consistent featured role and allowing her character to lean into manipulation, negotiation, and control rather than just match-to-match momentum. It also set up the next stage of her run, where her rivalries and alliances started to blend together.
That shift paid off in early 2023, when James and Henley ended up aligned as a tag team. On February 5, 2023, at NXT Vengeance Day, James and Henley challenged Katana Chance and Kayden Carter for the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship, and James left the event as a champion. Holding the titles gave her a bigger platform and placed her in the center of NXT’s tag division, while the uneasy nature of the partnership stayed part of the story.
After the tag title chapter, James stayed active near the top of the NXT women’s division and continued to be used in singles programs that positioned her as a threat to rising stars and champions. She earned a major opportunity at the NXT Women’s Championship by winning a number one contender’s match on August 29, 2023, then faced Tiffany Stratton for the title on the September 5, 2023, episode of NXT, but ultimately lost.
Later in the year, she returned to her earlier tournament rival in a new setting when she met Roxanne Perez again, and their feud built toward a bigger match. On December 9, 2023, at NXT Deadline, James faced Perez in a Steel Cage match, which stood out as one of her most notable stipulation matches in NXT and a key moment late in her run on the brand.
In 2024, her trajectory shifted from NXT to the main roster. James was drafted to Raw during the 2024 WWE Draft on the April 26, 2024 episode of SmackDown. She made her main roster in-ring debut on June 3, 2024, on Monday Night Raw in a singles match against Natalya. As she settled into main roster programming, she worked across brands and roles, including time connected to Giulia in an on-screen capacity, which added another way for her character to appear in major stories even when she wasn’t in the center of the ring.
By early 2026, James was getting higher-profile opportunities on SmackDown, mixing tag matches with singles chances that tested her against top names. On February 20, 2026, she pinned Charlotte Flair in a triple threat qualifier that also included Nia Jax, earning a spot in the Women’s Elimination Chamber match.
In the ring, James uses a grounded, power-based style that matches her presentation. She mixes in holds, strikes, and backbreakers, and she’s been associated with finishers like the 401K and the Deal Breaker. She continues competing on SmackDown while staying involved in stories that keep her connected to major names and bigger opportunities.
