Molly Holly

Molly Holly, born Nora Greenwald, built a reputation as one of the strongest in-ring women performers of her generation. After debuting in 1997, she worked early independent dates under names like Starla Saxton before moving into WCW, where she first gained national exposure as Miss Madness in Randy Savage’s Team Madness group and later as Mona, a more lighthearted babyface character.

WWE used her first as Lady Ophelia, William Regal’s valet, before repackaging her as Molly Holly, the storyline cousin of Crash Holly and Hardcore Holly. That role helped establish her on television during the late Attitude Era.

Her WWE run became more substantial when she shifted from the upbeat cousin character to Mighty Molly, sidekick to The Hurricane, and then to a more serious singles role. In 2002, she turned heel and adopted the “Pure and Wholesome” persona, which led to her best-known singles push.

On March 17, 2002, she briefly won the WWF Hardcore Championship by pinning The Hurricane backstage at WrestleMania X8, becoming only the second woman to hold the title after “The Godfather’s Ho” won it in 2000. However, she lost it later that same night, when Christian was the last wrestler to score a pinfall in the title’s chaotic series of changes.

During that period, she also won the WWE Women’s Championship twice while engaging in notable feuds with Trish Stratus, Lita, and Victoria. Her 2004 Hair vs. Title match with Victoria at WrestleMania XX remains one of the most remembered moments of her career.

Although her full-time in-ring career ended in 2005, Holly returned for select matches and Royal Rumble appearances in later years. She was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2021 and later took on a backstage producer role in WWE, extending her influence beyond her active career.
