Dave “Batista” Bautista entered the wrestling world in 1999, starting out in World Xtreme Wrestling (WXW) under the ring name “Khan”. Shortly after, he joined Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), where he adopted the persona “Leviathan,” a menacing powerhouse who quickly rose through the ranks.
In 2002, he made his WWE debut as “Deacon Batista”, a bodyguard for Reverend D-Von on SmackDown. His big break came when he joined Triple H, Ric Flair, and Randy Orton in the Evolution faction, cementing his place as a top name in WWE. By 2005, Batista had turned on Triple H, winning his first World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 21.
Over the years, he became one of WWE’s most dominant performers, known for his raw strength, explosive powerbombs, and intense rivalries with the likes of John Cena, The Undertaker, and Randy Orton.
After multiple world title reigns, Batista left WWE in 2010 to focus on acting and mixed martial arts. He returned for short runs in 2014 and 2019, with his final match taking place against Triple H at WrestleMania 35. Batista successfully transitioned into Hollywood, becoming widely recognized for roles such as Drax in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy series.
