The Undertaker attacked Kane on the entrance ramp, and the brothers brawled through the ringside area and into the crowd before eventually reaching the ring. The Undertaker repeatedly pursued Kane when he tried to create distance.
Kane gained control after using a steel chair. He hit The Undertaker with chokeslams before dragging him away from the ring and toward the burial site near the entrance. The Undertaker recovered as they reached the grave and began fighting back.
Kane tried to force The Undertaker into the grave, but The Undertaker caught him in Hell’s Gate. Kane eventually lost consciousness in the hold, allowing The Undertaker to roll him into the grave. Instead of immediately completing the burial, The Undertaker turned his attention toward Paul Bearer and prepared to put him into the grave with Kane.
The Nexus suddenly arrived and attacked The Undertaker. The numbers allowed Kane to climb out of the grave while The Undertaker was overwhelmed. Kane took Bearer’s urn and struck The Undertaker with it, sending his brother into the grave. The Nexus began shoveling dirt onto The Undertaker before Kane ordered them away.
Kane then used the machinery at the burial site to dump the remaining dirt into the grave, completing the burial and retaining the World Heavyweight Championship. The result gave Kane his third consecutive championship victory over The Undertaker and brought the competitive side of their long-running rivalry to a close.
