World Wonder Ring Stardom is an all-women’s Japanese professional wrestling promotion based in Tokyo. Founded in 2010 by Rossy Ogawa, Fuka Kakimoto, and Nanae Takahashi, Stardom became one of the main modern promotions in joshi puroresu. The company presents a mix of homegrown talent, veteran wrestlers, international names, tournaments, factions, and major championship matches.
Stardom held its first event in January 2011 and quickly developed around its own roster, dojo system, and title structure. Wrestlers like Mayu Iwatani, Io Shirai, Kairi Hojo, Yuzuki Aikawa, Tam Nakano, Giulia, Syuri, Utami Hayashishita, and Starlight Kid have shaped different periods of Stardom’s history. Iwatani and Shirai were part of the company’s early rise, while Hojo debuted in 2012 and later joined them as part of Threedom, one of Stardom’s best-known groups.
Iwatani stayed with Stardom for over fourteen years before leaving in 2025, while Hojo and Shirai both moved on to WWE, where they became known as Kairi Sane and Iyo Sky.
Stardom’s championship lineup is led by the World of Stardom Championship, introduced in 2011 alongside the Wonder of Stardom Championship, and its yearly schedule includes two major long-running tournaments: the 5Star Grand Prix, a summer round-robin tournament dating back to 2012, and the Cinderella Tournament, a single-elimination tournament added in 2015.
Bushiroad acquired Stardom in 2019, giving the company wider visibility, stronger production, and closer ties to New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Stardom remains active today with regular events across Japan, major arena shows, Stardom World streaming, and a continuing role as one of the leading women’s wrestling promotions in the world.
