Dungeon Wrestling began in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in 2022. It emerged from the wrestling legacy of the Hart family, one of the most influential families in Canadian professional wrestling. The company was publicly announced in April 2022 by Bret Hart on his social accounts, where he revealed that his sons, Blade and Dallas Hart, had launched the new promotion in partnership with Calgary independent wrestler and promoter Mo Jabari.
They stated they created the promotion to revive the rich wrestling tradition that once thrived in Calgary under Bret’s father, Stu Hart, who ran Stampede Wrestling from 1948 until the early 2000s. The name pays tribute to the infamous basement training facility beneath the Hart family mansion, where Stu trained countless wrestling legends.
Dungeon Wrestling held its first major show at the historic Victoria Pavilion in October 2022. The event, called Wrestleween, commemorated the 25th anniversary of the legendary WWF In Your House: Canadian Stampede pay-per-view from July 1997.
The card featured Harry Smith (son of the British Bulldog) facing former NWA World Champion Nick Aldis for the Stu Hart Heritage Championship and Brian Pillman Jr. (son of the late Brian Pillman) competing on the undercard. Both men have ties to the original Hart Foundation stable from the Attitude Era. The promotion has continued using the Victoria Pavilion as its primary venue, the same building where Stampede Wrestling held many of its most memorable events.
They mainly showcase Western Canadian independent talent while bringing in established names connected to Calgary wrestling history. Regular performers include descendants of Stampede Wrestling stars, like the Billington Bulldogs (nephews of the Dynamite Kid) and Raj Singh (Jinder Mahal).
Mo Jabari, one of the co-founders and a protege of Bret Hart, trained by Lance Storm, competes regularly and has become one of the promotion’s featured performers.
Dungeon Wrestling continues to run regular events in Calgary, drawing crowds of over 1,400 fans for major shows like November Pain in November 2024.
