Randy Savage attacked Hulk Hogan aggressively during the opening minutes and used punches and choking to control much of the early action. As the match continued, Madusa and Miss Madness tried to become involved from ringside.
When Hogan knocked the two women into each other, Madusa and Miss Madness began fighting. Security eventually separated them and removed them from ringside, allowing Hogan and Savage to continue without them.
After Hogan fought back, the match moved outside the ring. Hogan drove Savage into the ring post and used a chair, but Savage eventually recovered and answered with a chair of his own before bringing Hogan back inside.
With the match back in the ring, Savage took Hogan’s weightlifting belt and used it to whip and choke him. Hogan tried to fight back, but Savage stopped the comeback and continued controlling the match.
Savage eventually bodyslammed Hogan and climbed to the top rope for the flying elbow drop. After Hogan moved out of the way, Savage crashed into the mat and gave Hogan an opening to recover.
Hogan began his comeback and hit the big boot, but Sid Vicious entered before Hogan could continue. Sid attacked Hogan and prepared to powerbomb him until Sting ran down and went after Sid.
With Sting and Sid fighting away from the ring, Savage obtained a chain and struck Hogan with it. Savage covered Hogan and appeared close to retaining the championship, but Kevin Nash pulled the referee out of the ring before the three-count could be completed.
After stopping the count, Nash entered the ring and gave Savage a Jackknife Powerbomb. Hogan then crawled over and covered Savage as the referee returned.
The referee counted the pin, giving Hogan the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. The loss ended Savage’s final world-title reign after one day and also ended the in-ring rivalry between Hogan and Savage with their final match against each other.
