Hulk Hogan & Brutus Beefcake vs Randy Savage & Zeus | WWF SummerSlam 1989

After losing the WWF World Heavyweight Championship to Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania V, Randy Savage continued the rivalry by aligning with Zeus and Sensational Sherri. At SummerSlam 1989, Savage and Zeus faced Hogan and Brutus Beefcake, with Miss Elizabeth in Hogan and Beefcake’s corner.

Zeus immediately gave Hulk Hogan and Brutus Beefcake problems because neither man could easily knock him down. After Hogan’s early offense had little effect, Zeus began using his strength, choking and bearhugging Hogan to slow him down.

As Hogan became worn down, Randy Savage entered whenever he had an opening and attacked his former partner from the top rope. Savage and Zeus were able to keep Hogan away from Beefcake until Hogan finally created enough separation to make the tag.

After entering the match, Beefcake caught Savage with a high knee and put him in the sleeper. Savage escaped by driving Beefcake into the turnbuckle before tagging Zeus, but Beefcake was able to apply the sleeper to Zeus as well.

With Zeus trapped in the hold, Savage used Sensational Sherri‘s loaded purse to strike Beefcake behind the referee’s back. Savage followed with several pin attempts, forcing Hogan to enter the ring to save his partner.

After Savage and Beefcake collided, Beefcake was finally able to reach Hogan. Hogan entered against Savage and sent him to the floor with the big boot. When Hogan tried to bring Savage back into the ring with a suplex, Sherri grabbed Hogan’s leg, allowing Savage to fall on top of him for a near fall.

Savage followed by hitting Hogan with the flying elbow drop, but Hogan recovered quickly, surprising Savage. Hogan then attacked Savage and hit him with an atomic drop that sent Savage out of the ring, leaving Hogan alone with Zeus.

As Miss Elizabeth stopped Sherri from interfering at ringside and Beefcake kept Savage occupied, Hogan grabbed Sherri’s loaded purse and struck Zeus with it. After finally knocking Zeus down, Hogan bodyslammed him and followed with the leg drop for the pin.
