Cody Rhodes vs Oba Femi | WWE Saturday Night's Main Event XLII

WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes and NXT Champion Oba Femi opened the show in a champion vs champion match that turned into a physical fight. Femi controlled long stretches with power, and the action spilled to the announce table, where Rhodes’ ear was busted open. Rhodes fired back with a powerslam, a Cody Cutter, and an Avalanche Cody Cutter as the match built toward a finish.

Before either champion could win, Drew McIntyre rushed in and attacked Rhodes, and the referee threw the match out for a no-contest. Rhodes and Femi then teamed up to take McIntyre down, with Rhodes hitting a Cody Cutter and Femi finishing him with a chokeslam. Afterward, Rhodes returned Femi’s NXT Title, and the two champions raised each other’s hands in respect.
