WWE set up a No. 1 Contender tournament to decide who gets the next shot at Undisputed WWE Champion Drew McIntyre at Royal Rumble on January 31, 2026. SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis announced the format: four qualifying matches to narrow the field to four finalists. Those four wrestlers then meet in a Fatal 4-Way at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLIII, with the winner becoming the official No. 1 Contender and earning the title match against McIntyre at Royal Rumble.
