The Corre

The Corre was a WWE stable formed on SmackDown in January 2011 by Wade Barrett, Heath Slater, Justin Gabriel, and Ezekiel Jackson. Barrett, Slater, and Gabriel had recently separated from The Nexus, while Jackson joined them after returning to SmackDown. The group was officially named The Corre on the January 21 episode and quickly became involved in SmackDown’s main storylines.

Slater and Gabriel held the WWE Tag Team Championship twice while representing the group, adding to the reign they had already started as members of The Nexus. Barrett defeated Kofi Kingston for the Intercontinental Championship in March 2011, giving The Corre control of both singles and tag team championships during its run.

Problems within the group became more noticeable during the spring. Ezekiel Jackson walked away during a match involving The Corre on the May 6 episode of SmackDown, and Barrett, Slater, and Gabriel attacked him afterward and removed him from the group. Jackson then began a rivalry with his former partners and challenged Barrett for the Intercontinental Championship.

The remaining three members stayed together until June. After Barrett abandoned Slater and Gabriel during a six-man tag team match, Slater and Gabriel confronted him on the June 10 episode of SmackDown and told him The Corre was finished. The group disbanded after less than five months together, while Jackson continued his rivalry with Barrett and defeated him for the Intercontinental Championship at Capitol Punishment later that month.
