Uncensored was an annual professional wrestling pay-per-view produced by World Championship Wrestling (WCW) from 1995 through 2000.
The event was held each March and was presented around matches that were unsanctioned in storyline, with many of the contests using stipulations that changed or removed normal WCW rules.
The first Uncensored took place in 1995 and established the event’s unusual match format. Dustin Rhodes faced Blacktop Bully in a King of the Road Match held on the back of a moving tractor-trailer, while Johnny B. Badd faced Arn Anderson in a Boxer vs. Wrestler Match. Hulk Hogan faced Vader in a Strap Match in the main event.
WCW continued to use large stipulation matches as part of the series. The 1996 event featured Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage against the Alliance to End Hulkamania in a multi-level Doomsday Cage Match, while the 1997 main event placed the New World Order against Team Piper and Team WCW in a three-team elimination match.
The series continued during the nWo period, with the 1998 and 1999 events promoted under WCW/nWo branding. Hulk Hogan remained a regular part of Uncensored throughout its run and appeared in the main event of all six editions.
The unsanctioned presentation became less prominent during the later events, although specialty and no-disqualification-style matches remained part of the series.
The final Uncensored took place in 2000. WCW ended the series after six annual events, closing a run that had used the Uncensored name for some of the promotion’s more unusual stipulation-based pay-per-view matches.
