Worlds Collide is a professional wrestling event series featuring wrestlers from different promotions and brands competing on the same card. Its history dates to November 6, 1994, when Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide presented When Worlds Collide at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena.
The event was produced with AAA’s United States promotional partner, the International Wrestling Council, while World Championship Wrestling (WCW) helped with the television production and United States pay-per-view distribution.
The card featured AAA wrestlers including Konnan, Perro Aguayo, El Hijo del Santo, Octagón, Eddie Guerrero, Art Barr, Rey Misterio Jr., Psicosis, and La Parka.
The Worlds Collide name returned under WWE in 2019, and the first WWE Worlds Collide tournament brought together wrestlers from NXT, NXT UK, and 205 Live, with 15 wrestlers competing for a future championship opportunity. Velveteen Dream won the tournament by defeating Tyler Bate in the final.
WWE followed it with additional Worlds Collide specials featuring different combinations of Raw, SmackDown, NXT, NXT UK, and 205 Live wrestlers.
WWE changed the format in 2020 when Worlds Collide became a major event featuring NXT against NXT UK. The two brands met again at NXT Worlds Collide in 2022 as WWE prepared to close NXT UK and introduce NXT Europe.
The event included championship unification matches involving the NXT Championship and NXT UK Championship, the NXT Women’s Championship and NXT UK Women’s Championship, and the NXT Tag Team Championship and NXT UK Tag Team Championship.
After another break, Worlds Collide returned in 2025 as a crossover series between WWE and Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA). Wrestlers from WWE’s Raw, SmackDown, and NXT rosters have appeared alongside AAA wrestlers, with AAA championships regularly defended at the events.
This version brought the series back to the cross-promotional format associated with the original 1994 event while combining WWE and AAA wrestlers on the same cards.
