Matt Korklan, wrestling under the ring names Matt Sydal and Evan Bourne, is celebrated for his high-flying, acrobatic wrestling style highlighted by his signature finishing move, the Shooting Star Press (“Air Bourne”). Beginning his career on the independent circuit from 2000, he originally wrestled as Matt Sydal for promotions including Ring of Honor (ROH), IWA Mid-South, and Dragon Gate in Japan. In 2007, he signed with WWE and debuted on the main roster as Evan Bourne, quickly becoming a fan favorite on ECW and Raw brands. He was one half of the popular tag team Air Boom with Kofi Kingston, winning the WWE Tag Team Championship and defending it for 145 days. After WWE, he returned intermittently to the independent scene using both ring names and competed in TNA/Impact Wrestling, NJPW, and AEW while maintaining his reputation as a high-energy, aerial specialist. Injuries and suspensions affected parts of his WWE tenure, but he consistently impressed with his athleticism and spirit.
