Bragging Rights

Bragging Rights was a professional wrestling event series produced by WWE in 2009 and 2010. The series featured wrestlers from Raw and SmackDown competing for brand supremacy, with matches between representatives of the two brands leading to a Raw vs. SmackDown team match for the Bragging Rights trophy.

The first Bragging Rights took place on October 25, 2009, at Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Raw and SmackDown competed in three interbrand matches, with The Miz defeating John Morrison for Raw before the SmackDown women’s team defeated the Raw women’s team. Team SmackDown then defeated Team Raw in a seven-on-seven tag team match to win the overall competition and the Bragging Rights trophy.

The 2009 event also featured John Cena defeating Randy Orton in a one-hour Anything Goes Iron Man Match to win the WWE Championship. The Undertaker retained the World Heavyweight Championship against CM Punk, Batista, and Rey Mysterio in a Fatal Four-Way Match.

Bragging Rights returned on October 24, 2010, at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Raw and SmackDown competition included United States Champion Daniel Bryan defeating Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler before Team SmackDown defeated Team Raw in a seven-on-seven elimination match. The victory gave SmackDown the Bragging Rights trophy for the second consecutive year.

The 2010 event also featured Kane defeating The Undertaker in a Buried Alive Match for the World Heavyweight Championship and Wade Barrett defeating WWE Champion Randy Orton by disqualification. John Cena and David Otunga defeated Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre to win the WWE Tag Team Championship.

The 2010 show was the final Bragging Rights event. The series ran for two events, with SmackDown winning the Raw vs. SmackDown competition in both years.
